Rainshine: creating delightful interactions in monsoons

Rainshine is a prototype rain sensitive umbrella that responds to the amount of rain falling on its surface and provides for multiple interactions with the user. The idea triggered from a general sense of gloom I could sense within me and my colleagues in the long spans of monsoons in Mumbai while craving to see the glimpse of sun and feel its warmth during long bouts of grey skies. Creates luminance (due to the presence of pressure sensors) that it proportional to the amount of rainfall. It also has points along its handle that glow brighter in accordance to number of hands holding it. With the final feature of a "Guardian Angel" (a ring of light projected downwards around the person holding the umbrella) there is no reason to be gloomy during long bouts of grey gloomy monsoons!
